We can tell you first hand that the wedding industry can be dirty and underhanded at times.  Lifetime Images doesn't pay finders fees for referrals.    If someone recommends our services you can be assured what they are saying is candid because we certainly aren't paying them.  The same goes for people we recommend.  The following vendors are companies that we simply believe in. We think you will have a very good experience with these companies.

Lifetime Images Highly Approved Vendors

Videographers-  Plug Video- Wedding photographers and wedding videographers  notoriously fight like cats and dogs.   Since the introduction of wedding videography back in the early 1980's  photographers haven't been that warm and receptive to the idea of sharing their space and  photographic opportunities with another vendor.   When things go bad, they go very bad, and very often the bride is thrown into the middle of the spat between the vendors.  Though we try to get along with wedding videographers we have stories about working with complete idiots who really pushed their luck with us.  It got to the point that we decided to offer our own video services.  It was an idea that lasted about two weeks. We were on step seven of getting this enterprise going when we realized we couldn't do justice to both video and photography.  In the end we learned a lot about video. When we met Dan and the crew from Plug Video we were blown away.   All our big plans were about 3 percent of what they offered.   They did video better than we ever dreamed we could offer.

That was about five year ago.  In that period of time we have worked together at least 100 times.  Everybody in our crew knows everybody in their crew.   We respect them and their talents.  We have very complimentary styles and working relationship.    Very often wedding guests are surprised to learn that we aren't the same.  Together Plug Video and Lifetime Images have a synergy, we are a team.   Sometimes,  we have heard from brides that they want to hire a company that offers both photography and video because they believe that they would work well together.   We had someone tell us a wedding that she hired one of these companies for her wedding only to find out that photographer and videographer have never met before!  So much for that theory.    We have often found that companies that offer both photo and video, in general, aren't that good at either.

Dan Douglas, the owner of Plug Video is an award winning videographer.   He's also a good friend, and a very fun person.   We refer each other all the time to our clients.  Over the last five year I never had one client say anything anything but glowing things about Dan and his company.   One favor we would like to ask of our clients is to not consider having a videographer if it isn't important to you.  Sometimes we get stuck with really bad videographers because at the last minute, someone decided it would be a good idea to hire one.    We are one of the few photography studios that really does see the value in wedding videography, we believe that a good videographer can capture your wedding day in a different way than a photographer.   You can remember the toast that your dad made, and the funny way your aunt danced at the reception.    So, if you do want to hire a wedding videographer, please, please, please don't stick us with somebody to work around.  For the rates that Plug charges, they are a steal!   I will gladly point you to other videographers who charge more, give less, and do an inferior job to Plug Video.    After ten years, we've been fortunate to work with the very best and the very worst in the industry.  We very much believe in Plug Video.   www.plugvideo.com     (714) 777-9958

Disk Jockeys (DJ's).  If  there is one thing I am very picky about it's DJ's.    Having worked with hundreds of them over the years I know the difference between those who fake it, and the pros who really know their stuff.    It's sad when you have a bridal couple who plans the perfect day,  has an elaborate room set up at a wonderful venue along with a very expensive meal, and books a bad DJ.  Sooner or later the guest start feeling like they are back in school, counting the seconds to go home.   When all the formalities are done and the bride and groom want to celebrate,  everybody is gone!  Don't let this happen to you.

PureSound Entertainment-  Nothing sinks what could be a perfectly good reception faster than a bad DJ.  For your wedding you want someone who is professional, fun and can handle any situation.  That's Paul.   We've worked with him so many times we've lost count.  He does a lot of corporate events at Raging Waters in San Dimas.   So, please call to get his schedule.    From $100,000 weddings  in Malibu to last minute receptions in a backyard.  Give him a call at  (909) 549-9949.  Or visit his website at www.puresoundentertainment.com .

Chuck is the man! Have you ever very nearly fell asleep at a reception?  We can assure you it wasn't Chuck's reception.  He smoothly runs an event, almost like a Jedi Master.   He is a professional high class act.   Our best advice is give him a call to ensure your date is available.    (866) DJ-Chuck  WWW.Musiconthemove.biz

Meredith Events-(Wedding Coordinator)-Feeling a little anxious about your wedding plans?  Are you concerned that your big day will turn into another one of those events that you spend so much time and energy putting out fires that you may never really get to enjoy your wedding?  Give Meredith a call.  She has plenty of wonderful experience, and ideas, and best of all she is the most affordable wedding coordinator that you will find!  (714) 374-2918, or (714) 225-4800 (Mobile).  oldmother@socal.rr.com

Travel Agent- Save Money-Blow it elsewhere!- Chances are that you will be going on a honeymoon, and that you will need to purchase airline tickets and make hotel and rental car accommodations. If your plans include searching around the internet at sites like Travelocity,  or cheaptickets.com  you may be surprised to learn that you MAY NOT  be getting the best deal.  For example, one couple who recently went to Hawaii saved a couple hundred dollars on  their airline,  and  rental car!  In Hawaiian terms  this means a fun day out, a few really nice meals, or few more gifts for family and friends.  For a quick, simple and easy no obligation conversation please give our buddy  Aidee Parish a call at (714) 961-1206.   Or you can e-mail her at aparish@adelphia.net.

Other Vendors

Here's something that I could use your help with.  I am trying to create a resource list of unique vendors, perhaps vendors that are harder to find than normal.   If you have any suggestions, please let us know.  Vendors are listed free of charge and are asked for nothing in return.

Bagpiper- Jason Bond (949) 463-2641 jasonbond58@hotmail.com www.thebagpiperoforange.com , Nice guy, comes dressed in a kilt.

Bands- The band "Soup to Nuts" was hands down the best band I have ever seen at a wedding, and I have seen many.  They were beyond talented.  They are managed by  "de Bois  Productions"   310-652-6821.   Their address is 1214 N. Clark St. #12, Los Angeles, CA  90069. They can also be reached via e-mail at debois@earthlink.net

Resources

An arbitrary list of useful sites and people. Most of these are either resources for equipment & technical information, or provide links to additional places worth a visit.

A word about FAQs: I deliberately didn't build a list of FAQs either for equipment or for techniques. There are simply too many individual web sites. Among the sites I listed below are several with links to FAQs. Please use the links here to explore and build your own list of useful URLs. If you need a FAQ, I'd suggest you look first at:

John Wall's Guide to rec.photo FAQs, or

John Wall's Guide to rec.photo FAQs, or
Bengt's Photo Page, an excellent resource which contains a link to Photo FAQs and Documents.

Among the best online resources, mail lists specialize in one brand or one photographic discipline. For a selection, try ListQuest.
